Description
Holding Rod for Martin Arm
The Martin arm holding rod is one component of the Martin holding system. It holds a retractor steady at the end of the arm.
Where it sits
The post mounts to the table and the jointed arm reaches over the field. Then the rod holds the instrument at the working end. So the whole chain stays fixed once you tighten it.
Why buy it alone
A rod can wear or bend with heavy daily use. Instead of replacing the whole system, you can swap just this part. Also, a spare rod keeps the setup ready during reprocessing.
Retractor holding
Surgeons use the rod to hold a hand-held retractor in place. That way, no assistant needs to pull for the whole case. For scope work, add the endoscope holding part instead.
Ordering
The rod comes in one size. However, a complete Martin set already includes one, so check your needs first. Then order a second Martin arm holding rod if you want a spare.
Cleaning Martin arm holding rod
Rinse the rod right after the case, before any residue hardens on its surface. Next, roll it on a flat surface to check that it runs straight. Plus, store it flat in a tray so it does not bend.
