Description
Heidebrink Root Tip Pick Set, 4 Pieces
These Heidebrink root tip picks give you three single-ended patterns and one double-ended pick. They all target the same problem: a small tip left deep in the socket. With four ends to choose from, you can match the angle to the fragment.
When a fragment stays behind
Roots can fracture near the apex. Then a broad elevator is too big to help. A fine pick, however, can reach down the ligament space and tease the tip free.
The four pieces
Fig. 1 is straight for a direct line. Fig. 2 bends to the left, and Fig. 3 bends to the right. Finally, the Fig. 13/14 carries a Heidebrink tip at both ends, so one handle gives two more options.
Choosing a pick at chairside:
- Direct access: Fig. 1 straight
- Fragment tilts one way: Fig. 2 or Fig. 3
- Need both angles on one handle: Fig. 13/14
Technique in brief
Slide the tip between the fragment and the socket wall. Then use a small lifting motion rather than a big twist. Because the tips are fine, too much force can bend them. So go slowly and let the fragment come to you.
Picks or tip elevators?
Our Heidebrink tip elevators carry heavier, elevator-style ends. In contrast, these picks stay slim for delicate work. Many clinicians keep both and reach for the Heidebrink root tip picks first.
Why the four-piece kit
The double-ended Fig. 13/14 sets this kit apart from the three-piece version. Also, ordering all four keeps the finish and handle feel the same.
Coverage and resources for these picks
The picks carry cover of three years against manufacturing defects, which we honor without hassle. We set the specification for every pick, while United States staff inspect them before dispatch. Their stainless steel matches ASTM F899. The picks arrive non-sterile. Put them through cleaning and an autoclave cycle first, and you can reuse them again and again. For heavier tips, see the Heidebrink tip elevators. Also view all clinical dental sets and our FAQ.
Intended for dental professionals. Please read our sterilization page and terms for sending the picks.
