Description
French Tuning Fork
The French tuning fork is the large pattern in the range. Its long prongs give very low pitches, and the manufacturer’s catalogue lists the French tuning fork at 16 Hz and 32 Hz, far below the forks used for routine hearing tests.
Where a very low pitch helps
At these frequencies, the vibration is something the patient feels rather than hears. For that reason, the fork suits teaching and specialist work on low frequency perception. In contrast, everyday Rinne and Weber testing uses a 512 Hz fork such as the Hartmann.
Before you order a French tuning fork
The listing shows two versions at different prices, but the options do not yet name their pitch. As a rule, the larger fork carries the lower pitch. Still, please contact us before ordering so we can confirm which version matches the frequency you need.
Care
The long prongs bend more easily than those of a small fork, so store it flat in a padded case. Clean it with a disinfectant wipe, and then dry it before storage.
