The Anestophon stethoscope is a slim, single head model with one outlet. In short, it keeps things simple: one chest piece, one tube and light binaurals. So the Anestophon stethoscope is easy to carry all day and quick to use.

Where a single head works well

A single chest piece suits routine checks, for example blood pressure readings over the brachial artery and quick chest listening. Since you never need to turn a head, you also avoid missing sounds because the wrong side faced the skin. For that reason, it works well as a spare or a ward stethoscope.

Anestophon stethoscope or Duplex?

If you need both a bell and a diaphragm, choose the Duplex, which has a dual head. By contrast, the Anestophon trades that range for less weight and a simpler design. Many teams keep a single head model on each trolley and a dual head model for full examinations.

Care

Wipe the chest piece and ear tips with a disinfectant wipe between patients. Also keep the tubing away from alcohol based gels and heat, because both stiffen it over time.
