Collin Goniometer

The Collin goniometer has a clear, full circle dial with two long arms. Because you can see through the dial, you place the Collin goniometer’s center exactly over the joint axis, which is where most goniometer errors begin.

Large joint measurement

The long arms follow the thigh and the leg, or the upper arm and the forearm, so you align with the long axis of each segment. As a result, readings at the knee, elbow, hip and shoulder are more repeatable. In addition, the full circle scale reads in either direction.

Collin goniometer or Moeltgen?

Choose the Collin for large joints and long segments. In contrast, the Moeltgen is compact and rigid, so it suits smaller joints and tight spaces. For the fingers, look at the Carroll finger goniometer.

Care

Clean the dial with a mild detergent, since strong solvents can cloud a clear surface. Then dry it and store it flat, away from heat. Also check that the arms still turn smoothly, because a stiff pivot makes you push the limb rather than follow it.
