Description
Guyer No. 7 Crown Remover
The Guyer crown remover, pattern No. 7, is a stainless steel hand instrument for lifting crowns and temporary restorations. We offer it in two versions, Plain and Serrated. Both share the same No. 7 pattern from the supplier catalogue, and they differ only in the surface of the working end.
Plain or Serrated: Choosing the Working Surface
The Plain version has a smooth working end. It glides into position and leaves no marks, so it suits polished or delicate restorations. The Serrated version, by contrast, carries small ridges across the working surface. Those ridges bite into the margin and resist slipping when force is applied. As a result, many clinicians pick Serrated for stubborn, well-cemented crowns.
- Plain: smooth end for polished surfaces and gentle work
- Serrated: ridged end for secure purchase on a firm margin
Where the No. 7 Fits in a Practice
A hand remover like this is the first tool many dentists try on a loose crown. It needs no setup and no attachments. In addition, it works well for temporary crowns that only need a light lift. Because both versions share one pattern, some offices stock one of each. Then the assistant can pass whichever surface the case needs.
Cleaning Ridges and Smooth Ends Alike
Serrations hold cement, so scrub them across the ridges rather than along them. The Plain end cleans faster but still deserves a check under light. Both versions leave us in a non-sterile state, which calls for a complete reprocessing cycle first. Our United States team handles and inspects each Guyer remover individually before shipping. Plain or Serrated, every No. 7 carries a guarantee: three years against manufacturing defects, ridges included.
The material complies with ASTM F899. Explore further restorative tools in our dental instruments category. For two working ends in one handle, look at the double-ended crown remover. Shipping costs, returns and accounts are explained in our FAQs.
Offered strictly for professional dental use. Serration cleaning is covered in our care and sterilization guidance, and transit options are on the delivery page.
