Description
Goldman-Fox Pocket Markers
A Goldman-Fox pocket marker transfers the depth of a periodontal pocket onto the outer surface of the gingiva. The periodontist then has a row of reference points to follow when planning a gingivectomy incision. Intrace USA offers the instrument in two versions, Left and Right, each listed separately in our supplier’s set components and stocked in Atlanta, Georgia.
How a Pocket Marker Works
The design is a plier with two beaks. First, the clinician slides one beak into the pocket until it meets the base. Next, the handles close, and the outer beak marks the gingiva at the same level. Then the marker moves along the arch, point by point. The result is a series of small bleeding points that outline the planned incision line.
Left Side or Right Side
The catalogue lists one marker for the left side and one for the right side. In practice, the two mirror each other so the clinician can reach both halves of the mouth with a comfortable wrist position. Therefore, most periodontal trays carry the pair rather than one alone. If you already own one side, you can order the other to complete the set.
Where These Markers Fit in Surgery
Marking happens after anaesthesia and before the first incision. Because the points show exactly where the pocket base sits, the surgeon can plan the bevel with more confidence. In addition, the markers help the assistant follow the plan during the procedure. Once marking is complete, the gingivectomy knives take over.
Quality Checks and Warranty Terms
Our staff look over every Goldman-Fox marker in the United States, checking beak alignment before it is packed. Moreover, left and right markers alike hold three years against manufacturing defects, beaks included. Because markers arrive unsterilized, scrub the beak tips, pouch them and autoclave ahead of the surgical day.
The steel meets ASTM F899. More periodontal instruments are grouped in Diagnostic, Periodontal & Restorative Instruments. For the incision that follows marking, see the Goldman-Fox Gingivectomy Knives. Please check our FAQs for order and return details.
