Description
Gilles
Gilles dental tweezers sit among the tweezer patterns in our supplier’s printed range, and Intrace USA offers both versions listed there. One is 15 cm with smooth jaws. The other is 14 cm with serrated jaws. Both are stainless steel, stocked in Atlanta, Georgia, and ready for chairside or lab use.
15 cm Smooth: A Gentle Contact Surface
Smooth jaws close flat against the item without biting into it. So this version suits soft or delicate pieces where tooth marks would be a problem, such as thin gauze or small dressings. In addition, a smooth surface wipes clean quickly between steps. The extra centimetre also gives a little more reach toward posterior sites.
14 cm Serrated: When Grip Matters More
Serrations add friction across the jaw faces. Therefore, the serrated Gilles holds slippery or springy items more securely, for example a wet cotton pellet or a small wedge. The slightly shorter length keeps the tips close to the fingers, which many assistants find steadier for quick transfers. However, serrations need careful brushing during cleaning, because debris can lodge in the grooves.
Picking Between the Two Gilles Versions
Start with the task you repeat most. If you handle fragile material, choose the 15 cm smooth pair. Then, if your work leans toward firm pickup and transfer, choose the 14 cm serrated pair. Many offices simply buy one of each, since the two cover different moments in the same appointment.
Steel, Inspection and the Gilles Warranty
Our team inspects each Gilles pair in the United States, checking jaw alignment and finish. Also, both lengths are warranted for three years against manufacturing defects; jaw misalignment from poor workmanship counts. Both versions arrive unsterilized, so wash and autoclave them in your usual tweezer cycle first.
The steel meets the ASTM F899 standard for surgical instruments. Explore related chairside tools in Diagnostic, Periodontal & Restorative Instruments. For a single-size alternative, compare the Gerald Fig. 1 cotton pliers. Ordering questions are covered in the FAQs.
