Description

Franklin-Silverman Biopsy Needle

The Franklin-Silverman biopsy needle takes a core of tissue with a split-cannula design. An outer cannula and a split inner needle work together to trap the sample.

Split inner needle

First, the outer cannula reaches the target tissue. Then the split inner needle goes in and traps a core between its halves. Finally, the assembly comes out with the sample held inside.

Two sizes

The 2.0 x 100 mm needle suits shallower targets. Meanwhile, the 2.5 x 145 mm size gives more length and a wider core. In both, the first number gives diameter and the second gives length.

With or without platform

The platform version adds a finger platform, or stop, on the cannula. That way, you get a firmer hold and a set point for depth. Alternatively, the plain version keeps the profile slim and simple.

Choosing a version

Pick the Franklin-Silverman biopsy needle with platform if you like a place to rest your fingers. However, the plain design suits users who prefer a lighter feel. Also, both sizes come in each version, so you can mix and match.

Care of Franklin-Silverman biopsy needle

Separate the cannula and inner needle before cleaning. Next, flush each lumen and brush the split tips gently so the halves stay aligned. Then dry every part, reassemble the set, and protect the points in storage.
