Fein Cotton Applicator
The Fein cotton applicator is a long ENT instrument, 28 cm overall, with finger rings at one end and a curved shaft at the other. The length and curve let you carry cotton past the palate to the back of the nose and throat.
Control at a distance
Because the grip uses finger rings, you steer the tip with the whole hand rather than just the fingertips. As a result, the tip stays steady even at full reach, which matters when you apply a topical agent to the pharynx or larynx.
When to use a Fein cotton applicator
Choose it for deep work where a short applicator falls short, for example under a mirror or a scope. In contrast, the Uckermann and Farrell patterns are better for the ear canal and the front of the nose. Many ENT rooms therefore keep one long and one short pattern.
Care
Remove the cotton and rinse the shaft right after use. Next, clean the ring joint with a soft brush, dry it, and sterilize to your protocol.
