Description
Falk Ligature Needle
The Falk ligature needle carries a ligature around deep vessels. It comes in left and right versions, so the curve always opens toward the surgeon’s approach.
Left or right
Choose the curve that matches the side of the vessel. Consequently, the tip comes around without the hand rotating into an awkward position.
Length of the Falk ligature needle
The needle measures 23 cm. Also, that reaches deep abdominal and pelvic vessels. In addition, the handle offers a comfortable grip.
Typical procedures
Pelvic, abdominal and gynaecological surgeons use it. For example, it passes a ligature around the uterine vessels or deep mesenteric branches.
Technique
Advance the curve behind the vessel with gentle pressure. Once the eye appears, thread it and draw the needle back, bringing the ligature with it.
Stocking a pair
Since vessels lie on both sides of the field, most trays carry one left and one right needle.
Falk ligature needle in pelvic surgery
In the pelvis, vessels often run along the side walls at an angle. Picking the curve that opens toward you lets the tip slip behind the vessel while your wrist stays relaxed.

Care
