Description
Excavator For Manual Removal Of Decay Tissue
A caries excavator lets the dentist lift away softened dentin by hand, with far more tactile control than a rotary bur gives. This page collects the excavators our supplier catalogue files under manual removal of decay tissue. So the whole page serves one clinical job, yet it still offers thirteen figures to choose from.
The Low Numbers: Fig. 0 to Fig. 4
Fig. 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 sit together on one catalogue page, printed in order. Because the catalogue gives no spoon sizes for them, the photos are your guide. In addition, Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 each have a Style 2 option. Style 2 repeats the spoon one catalogue row down, mounted on a handle pattern the supplier does not describe, so compare the handles and choose the one that suits your grip.
Fig. 5, 14 and 17 to 20
The remaining six figures come from a separate page devoted to decay removal. Most captions name the figure only. Fig. 20, however, carries printed measurements of 1 mm, 1.2 mm and 1 mm beside its drawing. Therefore it is the one figure here with a dimensional reference you can check against an existing instrument.
Picking a Starter Set
Most dentists keep at least two spoon sizes on the restorative tray. First, choose a small figure for narrow occlusal lesions. Then add a larger one for broad proximal boxes or deep cavities. Also, when you already own excavators from this range, match the figure number on your old handle so the new tool behaves the same way.
Material, Checking and Warranty
The spoons are formed from stainless steel compliant with ASTM F899. Someone at our US warehouse checks spoon edges and shank angles one by one before the parcel is sealed. Your excavator includes three years against manufacturing defects should a flaw in the alloy or polishing appear. As delivered it is unsterilized; consequently, wash and autoclave it before the first restorative appointment.
