Description
Endodontic Heat Carriers
An endodontic heat carrier is a hand instrument that the clinician heats and then uses to soften, sear off or move gutta-percha inside the canal. It belongs to warm obturation technique, where it works alongside pluggers and spreaders. We offer two versions here, both drawn from component lists of endodontic sets in our supplier catalogue.
Heat Transfer Carrier 3 or MA57
The two options carry the names Heat Transfer Carrier 3 and MA57. Because the catalogue lists them as set parts by name only, it prints no tip diameter, taper or length for either. So we will not invent those numbers. Instead, compare the photos of both working ends, then pick the one closest to the carrier your endodontic tray already uses. Also, many offices keep one of each, since two different tips give more options in wide and narrow canals.
Where the Carrier Fits in Warm Obturation
After cone fit, the carrier is heated and passed into the canal to remove excess gutta-percha at the orifice. Next, a cold plugger condenses the softened material. Then the cycle repeats as you move apically or backfill. In this sequence the carrier is the step that delivers heat, while the plugger supplies the force.
Handling Heat Safely
Heat the tip only as far as your technique needs, because excess heat can discolour the steel over time. In addition, let the carrier cool before you place it back on the tray. Wipe gutta-percha residue off while it is still soft; that way, cleaning is faster later.
Quality Behind Each Carrier
Each heat carrier is stainless steel produced to ASTM F899. Our team in the United States checks tip straightness and handle fit before packing either version. If the steel or finishing proves faulty, both carriers have protection for three years against manufacturing defects, though heat discolouration is cosmetic wear. The carrier reaches you non-sterile; as a result, clean and sterilize it before the first canal.
