Description
Dissecting Knife
This dissecting knife measures 15 cm overall and comes in ten blade figures. Blade lengths run from 27 mm to 50 mm, so you can pick a short blade for control or a long one for sweep.
Blade lengths by figure
Figures 1 to 5 step up from 30 mm to 50 mm. Then figures 6 to 10 run from 27 mm to 50 mm. Each option on the page shows its own blade length.
Picking a dissecting knife figure
For fine planes, a short blade such as Fig. 6 at 27 mm keeps the point near your fingertips. For long cuts, Fig. 5 or Fig. 10 at 50 mm gives more edge per stroke. All ten figures carry the same price.
Care
Clean the blade after use and dry it fully. Also keep the knives apart in storage, so the edges stay sharp.
A knife for anatomy and pathology
Anatomy students often begin with a mid length blade, such as Fig. 3 at 40 mm. Later, they add a short and a long figure as their technique develops. Meanwhile, pathology benches favour longer blades for sectioning. Since all ten carry one price, the set can grow gradually.
