Description
Paquette Blade Handle, 15 cm
The Paquette blade handle is built around a simple idea: use a fresh, standard double edged razor blade to cut soft tissue grafts of even thickness. The supplier catalogue lists it for palatal, gingival and connective tissue grafts. At 15 cm long, it gives a comfortable reach to the palate while the blade stays easy to see.
Why a Razor Blade Instead of a Scalpel
A scalpel blade is narrow, so harvesting a broad graft takes many passes. By contrast, a razor blade presents a long, straight edge. As a result, the surgeon can raise a wider strip in fewer strokes and keep the cut plane steady. The handle holds the blade securely, so it can be guided like a plane across the donor site.
Grafts It Is Listed For
The catalogue names three uses. First, free gingival grafts taken from the palate. Second, connective tissue grafts, where a thin layer is lifted beneath the surface. Third, other palatal soft tissue harvests. In each case, technique and graft dimensions are the clinician’s decision.
Loading and Disposing of Blades
Blades are standard double edged razor blades, bought separately. Fit a new one for every patient. Then, when the harvest is done, remove it carefully and discard it in a sharps container. Also, handle the loaded instrument by the 15 cm body, never near the edge.
Handle Steel and Our Inspection
The handle is surgical stainless steel; the blade you fit is a separate consumable. Before dispatch, staff in the United States inspect each Paquette handle and its blade seat. It arrives non-sterile, so reprocess the handle in your sterilizer before loading a blade for graft harvest. The handle body itself is guaranteed for three years against manufacturing defects.
Our handle steel follows ASTM F899 guidance. Browse further scalpel holders, grip the harvested strip with tissue graft forceps, or turn to our FAQs for answers.
