Description
Diethrich Cardiovascular Surgery Scissors
Diethrich cardiovascular scissors have angled blades for opening and extending an arteriotomy. Five angles let you choose the approach that suits each vessel.
Angles and lengths
The 25 and 45 degree versions measure 18 cm. Meanwhile, the 60 degree model runs 17.5 cm. Finally, the 90 and 125 degree versions come in at 17 cm.
Guided option
The 125 degree, 17 cm model also comes in a version with a guide. Because it ships in one angle only, it suits surgeons who already know that style. However, the standard version covers most routine arteriotomies.
Choosing an angle
Shallow angles suit straight runs along an exposed artery. By contrast, steep angles reach around curves and into deeper sites. So many teams stock two or three angles together.
About the name
We list these under the correct eponym, Diethrich. Some older catalogs spell it Dietrich. Either way, these Diethrich cardiovascular scissors keep the same angled pattern.
Reprocessing Diethrich cardiovascular scissors
Wipe the blades during the case to stop blood drying near the tips. Afterward, open them fully for washing and brush the pivot area. Then dry them, check the cut on test material, and rack them apart from heavier tools.
