Description

Diamond-Tipped Root Fragment Forceps

A broken root tip can be harder to remove than the whole tooth. These root fragment forceps have diamond-coated extended tips that bite into a small, smooth fragment instead of slipping off it. Two tip lengths are listed, so you can match the reach to the socket.

The Point of a Diamond Coating

Polished steel jaws can slide on a wet root. The diamond coating adds a fine abrasive texture to the tips. As a result, the forceps hold a fragment with modest pressure, which lowers the chance of crushing it into smaller pieces. That grip matters most when the fragment is loose but still sitting deep.

Standard Against Extended 20 mm Tip

The Standard option already has extended tips for good access in most sockets. The Extended 20 mm Tip option goes further, with a tip length of 20 mm for deep access. So, choose the longer version for molar sockets, deep apical fragments, or sites where the crest sits far from the fragment. For premolars and anteriors, the Standard length is usually enough.

Working Around an Implant Plan

Retained fragments complicate immediate implant placement. Therefore, many surgeons keep these forceps in the extraction tray of every implant case. After a root fractures, a periotome or root tip pick can loosen the piece first. Then the diamond tips lift it out without enlarging the socket walls.

Quality Checks and Warranty

Each pair is closed under a lamp at our Atlanta site, within the United States, to confirm the coated tips meet evenly. They leave us non-sterile; brush the textured tips clean and autoclave before treatment. In addition, we cover each forceps for three years against manufacturing defects that affect the jaws, coating bond or hinge.

Base metal: stainless steel per ASTM F899. You will find more extraction aids in Dental Implant Instruments, and the Heidbrink root tip picks help loosen a fragment before you grip it. See the FAQs for ordering help.
