Description
DeBakey Atrauma Cardiovascular Peripheral Vascular Clamp
The DeBakey peripheral clamp gives gentle occlusion for vessels in the limbs and neck. It comes in three lengths: 16, 19 and 20 cm.
Three sizes
The 16 cm size handles superficial exposures with ease. By contrast, the 19 and 20 cm sizes reach deeper arteries. So one pattern can cover most peripheral depths.
Peripheral work
Surgeons use it during bypass, endarterectomy and trauma repair. As a result, it often earns a regular place in peripheral vascular trays. Its atraumatic jaws protect the wall throughout.
A familiar pattern
DeBakey-style clamps have long served vascular surgery around the world. Plus, most surgeons already know exactly how they handle. That makes training easier for new scrub staff too.
Picking sizes
Many teams keep the 16 cm size for femoral and neck vessels near the skin. Meanwhile, the 20 cm DeBakey peripheral clamp suits deeper exposures. Then the 19 cm fills the space between them.
Cleaning DeBakey peripheral clamp
Clean the jaws promptly after use so nothing dries in the gripping surface. Next, wash the clamp with the jaws spread and check the result under good light. Finally, dry it and give each size its own marked slot.
