Description
Singley-Tuttle Grasping Forceps
Singley-Tuttle forceps give surgeons a 23 cm tissue grasper for deep fields in the chest and abdomen. Surgeons use them to hold and lift tissue during chest and abdominal work.
Tissue control
Holding tissue steady makes the next dissection step easier to judge and carry out. So these forceps grip and lift while the other hand works. Then an assistant can take over and hold them in place while the surgeon continues.
Deep reach
At 23 cm, the forceps reach into the chest or abdomen with room to spare. Also, the hand stays outside the field. As a result, visibility improves.
Singley-Tuttle or Nelson
Our Nelson pattern focuses on lung tissue. By contrast, Singley-Tuttle forceps suit general tissue grasping. Many thoracic sets carry both so the team can choose on the day.
When to reach for them
Use them when shorter tissue forceps cannot reach the site. Plus, they help hold a structure while ties go around it. Then release them gently once the tie sits where it should.
Reprocessing Singley-Tuttle forceps
Flush the tips with water before any residue hardens. Next, brush the jaws and joint with warm water and a mild detergent. Finally, dry and inspect them before sterilization.
