Description
DeBakey-Satinsky Atrauma Bulldog Clamp
The DeBakey-Satinsky bulldog clamp provides brief, atraumatic control of small vessels. It comes in 7, 8 and 10 cm.
Three compact sizes
The 7 cm size suits the smallest vessels and tightest spaces. Next, the 8 cm clamp covers everyday small-vessel work in most cardiovascular cases. Finally, the 10 cm version adds reach and jaw length.
Hands-free control
Like other bulldogs, it stays in place without anyone holding it. So the team can work with both hands during the repair. Then the surgeon removes it once that step of the repair ends.
Gentle on the vessel wall
Atraumatic jaws spread pressure rather than concentrating it. As a result, they suit delicate walls in small arteries and veins. Also, surgeons can reposition the clamp with little fuss if the first placement feels off.
Choosing among bulldog patterns
Surgeons pick bulldog patterns largely by habit and jaw feel. For example, some prefer the DeBakey-Satinsky bulldog clamp for small branches. However, it helps to trial a pattern before stocking a full range.
Reprocessing DeBakey-Satinsky bulldog clamp
After each case, flush the jaws and check for trapped tissue. Next, dry the clamp and look for bent tips under a lamp. Keep it in a labeled compartment so the team can count it quickly before and after surgery.
