Description
Santulli Atrauma Bulldog Clamp
The Santulli bulldog clamp temporarily occludes a small vessel with atraumatic jaws. At 7 or 8 cm, it stays out of the way once in place.
What a bulldog does
Bulldogs close a vessel for a short time without an assistant holding them. So the surgeon gains a free hand during the repair. Then the clamp comes off once flow can safely return through the vessel.
7 cm or 8 cm
Both sizes stay small enough to sit quietly in the field. However, the 8 cm version gives slightly more length to grip. Choose by vessel size and the space around it.
Placing and removing
Many surgeons place bulldogs with their fingers in open fields. Alternatively, an applying forceps helps in deep spaces. Also, keep track of every clamp so none stays behind at the end of the case.
Counting and tray layout
Small clamps can easily vanish among drapes and sponges. Therefore, count each Santulli bulldog clamp in and out like any small item. In addition, a dedicated slot on the tray makes the count faster.
Cleaning Santulli bulldog clamp
Open the clamp fully while cleaning so water reaches the whole jaw. Then dry it well, since small parts trap moisture. Store it in a small-parts holder where it cannot slip through tray holes or hide under larger instruments.
