DeBakey Rib Spreader

The DeBakey rib spreader opens the chest and accepts interchangeable blades. You can buy it as a complete set or as the spreader alone.

Interchangeable blades

Swapping blades lets one frame suit different patients and exposures. So a single spreader can cover more cases. Also, you can replace a worn blade without buying a new frame.

Complete set or spreader only

The complete set suits a team starting from scratch. By contrast, the spreader-only option works for teams that already own blades. Then extra blades can come later, since we sell them separately.

Two size groups

Sizes come as 22 or 23 cm and 28 or 28.5 cm. The smaller group suits more compact exposures and smaller chests. Meanwhile, the larger group gives extra frame length for bigger chests.

Adding blades

Because blades come off, you can build the DeBakey rib spreader around your usual cases. For example, a spare blade pair keeps the spreader ready if one needs repair. In addition, check blade fit against your frame size before ordering.

Cleaning DeBakey rib spreader

First take off each blade, then wash the frame and blades apart. Next, wash and dry the frame and blades separately, then check the fit as you reassemble. Store the blades with their frame so parts stay matched.
