Each DeBakey rib spreader blade fits the DeBakey frame and lets you change size to suit the incision. We offer eight sizes, including a dedicated sternotomy blade.

Square sizes

Four square options come in 30 x 30, 40 x 40, 50 x 50 and 60 x 60 mm. These cover small through medium exposures. So many teams keep a pair of each in stock.

Longer and wider sizes

Next come 50 x 80, 80 x 60 and 40 x 100 mm. They reach further or open wider than the square range. Therefore they suit larger chests or deeper openings.

The sternotomy option

The 50 x 66 mm version serves as the sternotomy blade. Surgeons fit it when they open the chest through the sternum. Also, it mounts on the same frame as the other sizes.

Swapping sizes

Because the parts interchange, one frame can take many sizes. That way, a single spreader covers different patients and approaches. In addition, order each DeBakey rib spreader blade you rely on as a spare pair.

Cleaning DeBakey rib spreader blade

Detach each blade from the frame before washing. Then clean the fitting area closely, because debris hides there. Finally, dry each part and sort the blades by size in a labeled rack.
