Day Ear Hook

The Day ear hook is a small curved hook for the ear canal. ENT clinicians use it to remove wax plugs and small foreign bodies from the ear.

A classic ear clinic hook

Many ENT offices therefore keep this pattern on the cerumen tray. Its small hook tip reaches behind wax and pulls it outward. As a result, the clinician can clear a blocked canal without irrigation.

Using the hook

First, the clinician looks into the canal and finds the edge of the wax. Next, the hook tip passes behind it. Then a slow pull brings the wax out.

Where it fits

Most cerumen trays combine a hook, a loop, a curette and suction. So the clinician can switch tools as the wax changes texture. We can suggest a matching loop or curette.

Caring for the hook

Wipe off wax right after use, then rinse the instrument. Next, brush the tip gently and dry it. Finally, sterilize it before its next patient.
