Description
Coryllos (Thorax) Retractor
The Coryllos retractor is a thoracic hand retractor for holding back tissue during chest surgery. It measures 24 cm and comes with a choice of three blade sizes.
Blade options
Blades measure 82 x 22, 108 x 43 or 115 x 65 mm. The narrow blade suits a tight window between structures. By contrast, the widest blade holds back a broad area of tissue.
Held by hand
An assistant holds it in position throughout the step. So it can shift quickly as the surgeon moves to a new area. That flexibility suits changing views in the chest.
Length and reach
At 24 cm, it reaches into the thorax while hands stay outside the wound. Also, the length gives the assistant good leverage. Therefore steady retraction takes less effort over time.
Choosing blades
Many teams order the Coryllos retractor in two blade widths. First, pick the size that matches your usual incision. Then add a second width for cases that need more or less exposure.
Cleaning Coryllos retractor
Wash the blade surface and underside well, since tissue tends to cling there. Next, rinse and inspect the blade edge for nicks. Finally, dry it and store it flat so the blade keeps its shape.
