Description
Converse Retractor
The Converse retractor is a nasal retractor for rhinoplasty. Surgeons use it to lift the skin and soft tissue of the nose, so they can see the framework underneath.
Lifting the nasal skin
During open or closed rhinoplasty, the surgeon needs a view of the cartilage and bone. So an assistant slides the blade under the skin and lifts it. That creates a pocket where the surgeon can work.
Four blade sizes
The overall length is 9 cm. Blade options run 10×20, 12×30, 12×40 and 12×50 mm. The smaller blades suit the tip, while the longer blades reach up the dorsum.
Plain version without light
This listing covers the plain Converse retractor with no light guide. However, we also sell a fiber optic version for surgeons who want light at the blade. Both use the same four blade sizes.
Picking a blade
First, think about which part of the nose you expose most. For example, dorsal hump work often favors the 12×40 or 12×50 mm blade. Then add a shorter blade for tip work if needed.
Caring for the plain blade
Rinse the blade under running water as soon as surgery ends. Then brush the blade and handle to clear any tissue. Finally, dry it thoroughly and sterilize it with your other nasal instruments.
