Collin-Hartmann Retractor

The Collin-Hartmann retractor has a different blade at each end of a single instrument. General and pediatric surgeons use it for small openings.

14 cm size

The 14 cm size has a 38×28 mm blade at one end and a 32×21 mm blade at the other. So you get two depths in one piece. Also, it suits very small wounds.

16 cm size

The 16 cm size carries 52 x 34 and 36 x 27 mm blades. Then it reaches a little deeper than the shorter model. As a result, it covers slightly larger openings and thicker tissue.

Double-ended use

You simply flip the tool over to change blades mid-case. However, both ends touch tissue, so both need care during handling. Therefore hold it by the middle of the shaft.

Pediatric work

Pediatric teams value the Collin-Hartmann retractor for their smaller patients. Meanwhile, general surgeons reach for it in minor cases and short incisions. Plus, one double-ended tool replaces two single ones on the tray.

Reprocessing Collin-Hartmann retractor

Clean both blades after every case, since each end contacts tissue. Next, rinse and dry the whole length with a soft cloth. Finally, store it so neither end presses against other tools.
