This clinical tuning fork is a plain diagnostic fork for the bedside: strike it, and then use it to test hearing or vibration sense. It has broad, square prongs that ring clearly and a straight stem that is easy to hold.

What a clinical tuning fork does

For hearing, the mid pitches, above all 512 Hz, suit the Rinne and Weber tests. For vibration sense, clinicians usually reach for 128 Hz, since patients feel low frequencies better than they hear them. Therefore, the pitch you need depends on the test you run most.

Before you order

The listing shows six versions at different prices, but the options do not yet name their frequencies. So please contact us before ordering, tell us the test you plan to run, and we can then match the right fork to it. Meanwhile, if you need a fork with a foot for bone contact, look at the Lucae pattern.

Care

Hold the fork by the stem only, since fingers on the prongs damp the sound. After use, wipe it with a disinfectant that suits metal, and keep it apart from heavy instruments so the prongs stay straight.
