Breisky Vaginal Speculum and Retractor

The Breisky vaginal retractor is a single-blade speculum and retractor. It comes in five widths, Fig 1 to Fig 5, and three blade lengths.

Five widths

Widths run 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 mm across Fig 1 to Fig 5. So the narrowest suits a small opening or a tight space. Meanwhile, the widest holds back the most tissue for a broad view.

Three blade lengths

Blade lengths come in 100, 130 and 155 mm. Also, one size in the range measures 150 x 30 mm. Therefore, you can match the reach to the depth of the procedure.

Single-ended design

Unlike the double ended Breisky speculum, this version has one working blade. As a result, you pick one exact blade instead of a pair. Then add more sizes as your cases require.

Building a set

Many theaters keep several widths of the Breisky vaginal retractor together. For example, Fig 2 and Fig 4 cover narrow and wide needs. Plus, a long blade helps in deep vaginal surgery where reach matters most.

Reprocessing Breisky vaginal retractor

Wash each blade on its own after surgery. Next, check the tip and edges for bends, especially on the longer blades. Finally, dry it and sort the set by figure and length for quick selection.
