Bone Chisels, 170 mm

This 170 mm bone chisel gives you reach. The extra length keeps your fingers outside the flap while the blade works on the ridge. You choose three things here: blade width, blade profile and handle style. Together they make eight versions, all in stainless steel and all sized for mallet use.

4.0 mm Blade or 7.5 mm Blade

Width decides how much bone each pass removes. The 4.0 mm blade takes a narrow bite, so it suits refining a socket wall or notching a cortex. The 7.5 mm blade, on the other hand, covers more surface per tap. Surgeons often pick it for flattening a knife-edge crest before placement.

Straight Profile Versus Curved Profile

A straight blade cuts along a line. Therefore it works well for a planned osteotomy or for splitting along a flat plane. A curved blade instead rides over a convex surface. That helps when you shape a rounded ridge or harvest a thin shaving of cortical bone.

Knurled Handle and Hollow Handle

Both handles share the same 170 mm overall length. The knurled handle has a textured grip that stays secure with wet gloves. Meanwhile the hollow handle is lighter in the hand, which some clinicians prefer during long grafting sessions. Since the two catalogue patterns differ mostly in feel, compare the photos and pick the grip that matches your other instruments.

Building a Pair for the Tray

Many offices start with two pieces. For example, a 4.0 mm straight chisel handles detail, while a 7.5 mm curved one handles broad reduction. You can then add the remaining shapes as your cases demand.

We make the steel choice simple: it meets the ASTM F899 standard for surgical stainless. In addition, each chisel is checked by hand in the United States before dispatch. Our coverage runs three years against manufacturing defects on every blade and handle. See more in Dental Implant Instruments, and add a Mead Mallet if your tray lacks one. Our FAQs answer common ordering questions.

Sold only for use by trained clinicians. Each chisel arrives unsterilized, so clean and autoclave it according to our sterilization guide. Delivery details sit on our shipping page.
