Description
Aebli Iris Scissors
The Aebli iris scissors are a 10cm pair with fine blades for delicate work. They take small, clean snips of iris and other thin tissue. We offer one standard size, so the choice is simple: it either fits your hand and your technique, or it does not.
Aebli blades and the iris
Iris tissue is thin, soft and full of small vessels. As a result, it needs blades that cut cleanly with very little crush. A crisp close reduces tearing at the cut edge, which helps the tissue settle after surgery.
Holding the Aebli pair
Rest the pair in a pen grip with your hand braced on the brow or drape. Then use small finger moves to open and close the blades. Because the pair is only 10cm, it stays light and easy to steer.
Aebli versus Ong
Our Ong iris scissors share the same length. Both suit anterior segment snips, yet each has its own blade form and feel. If you trained on one, start there. Otherwise, try both and keep the pair that suits your cuts.
Habits that keep Aebli blades keen
- Cut tissue only, never suture
- Close the blades before setting them down
- Store with a soft guard on the tips
- Book a sharpening check when cuts start to drag
Aebli joint cleaning
Rinse the blades soon after use. Next, open the pair and brush around the joint. Finally, dry it well, since moisture in the joint can lead to stiffness over time.
Aebli scissors ship non-sterile, and your own cleaning and sterilization cycle makes them ready for repeat cases. The blades use stainless meeting ASTM F899. Aebli owners keep our pledge for three years against manufacturing defects; Aebli joints count as well.
