Description
Ong Iris Scissors
The Ong iris scissors are a fine 10cm pair for delicate cuts in the front of the eye. Iris scissors in general take small snips of iris or thin membranes. We list one standard size and keep the claims here simple and practical.
What iris scissors are for
Iris tissue is soft and also moves easily. So iris scissors have fine, sharp blades that cut with little drag. A common use is a small iridectomy, where the surgeon removes a tiny piece of iris. They also help trim fine strands or membranes in the anterior chamber.
The 10cm feel
A 10cm pair sits well in a pen grip. Then you can rest your hand and work with the fingertips. That keeps each cut small and controlled under the microscope.
Ong pre-case checks
- Check that the tips meet exactly
- Test the cut on a soft material
- Look for any rough spots on the blades
- Make sure the joint moves smoothly
How it compares with the Aebli
We also list the Aebli iris scissors in the same 10cm size. Both suit fine anterior segment work. In the end, the choice comes down to blade shape and how each pair feels in your hand.
Ong blade storage
Rinse the blades straight after use. Then open the pair and clean around the joint. Finally, dry it and close it before storage, with a guard over the tips.
The Ong pair ships non-sterile; each Ong pair is fit for reuse after cleaning and sterilization. The blades follow ASTM F899 for stainless steel. Ong buyers also get our promise for three years against manufacturing defects, Ong blades and joint included. Explore our eye instrument line, see the Aebli pattern, or visit the FAQ section.
