Description
Enucleation Eye Scissors
Enucleation eye scissors help divide deep tissue when the globe is removed. This pair measures 11.5 cm. It belongs in orbital and oculoplastic sets, next to muscle hooks and retractors.
The Job Enucleation Scissors Do
During enucleation, the surgeon frees the globe and then cuts behind it. That final cut usually includes the optic nerve. So the scissors must be sturdy enough to cut cleanly in one or two strokes. A clean cut also means less handling of the orbit.
Why Enucleation Shape Matters
Enucleation scissors are typically curved. The curve lets the blades pass around the back of the globe. As a result, the surgeon can cut without pulling hard on the eye. Some surgeons also prefer a longer pair for this step; in that case, look at our curved Landolt pattern.
Single 11.5 cm Size
One length keeps ordering simple. It gives enough reach into the orbit, yet stays easy to steer.
- 11.5 cm overall length
- Sturdy blades for deep tissue
- Suited to enucleation sets
- Reusable after sterilization
Working With the Set
First, the team prepares the globe with fine scissors and hooks. Then these scissors take over for the deep cut. Finally, a sponge or pressure helps control bleeding.
Enucleation Scissor Care
Rinse and brush the blades straight after use. Then dry and oil the joint. Also check the cutting edges often, since a dull pair crushes tissue instead of cutting it. Then return the pair to the orbital set, so it is always on hand.
We supply this pair non-sterile; after standard cleaning and sterilization it can serve again. It uses stainless steel compliant with ASTM F899, and our checks occur in the United States. Buying from us adds three years against manufacturing defects to this pair at no charge. Pair them with the Kocher enucleator for a fuller set.
