Description
Adson 1×2 Tissue Forceps
The Adson 1×2 tissue forceps is a small thumb forceps that holds a mucoperiosteal flap without letting it slip. At the tip, a single tooth on one beak closes between two teeth on the other. That interlock grips tissue firmly with a light squeeze. As a result, it earns a place in most flap trays.
What the 1×2 Tip Does
Smooth or serrated forceps rely on friction alone. By contrast, the 1×2 pattern pins the tissue between three points, so you can stabilize a thin flap while suturing. It also helps when you need to evert an edge before passing the needle. Because the grip is so secure, gentle pressure is usually enough.
Standard or Curved?
Both options measure 12 cm and carry the same 1×2 teeth. The difference is the shape near the tip:
- Standard: a straight forceps, natural for anterior flaps and for passing tissue to an assistant.
- Curved: the working end bends away from the handle. This keeps your fingers out of view in posterior and palatal areas.
Many clinicians keep one of each, then reach for whichever angle suits the site.
A Compact 12 cm Handle
At 12 cm, the forceps sits comfortably between thumb and index finger. Also, the short length gives good tactile feedback, which matters when tissue is delicate. For deeper access, however, a longer pattern may be easier.
Checked Here, Covered for Years
Our team inspects every pair in the United States before it ships from Atlanta. If a tip arrives misaligned, it is our problem: each forceps is backed for three years against manufacturing defects. The forceps arrives non-sterile; clean it and run a full autoclave cycle before it touches a patient.
The steel meets ASTM F899 for surgical stainless. See the full range of dental implant instruments, pair this forceps with a Scalpel Handle #3 for incision and flap work, or visit our FAQs.
Meant for licensed clinicians and trained dental and surgical professionals. Our care and sterilization guide and shipping page cover reprocessing and delivery.
