The Wullstein knife is a slim ear knife for tympanoplasty. Surgeons use it for fine incisions in the canal skin and around the eardrum.

A tympanoplasty classic

Horst Wullstein described the main types of tympanoplasty in the 1950s. As a result, his name appears on many ear instruments, from forceps to suction tubes. This blade serves the cutting steps of those operations.

Size on offer

We sell this pattern at 15 cm overall. That reach keeps your fingers outside the ear opening, while the tip sits deep in the canal. Blade measurements are not on our list yet, so write to us if you need them.

Clinical steps

Often the surgeon begins with an incision in the canal skin. Then they raise the flap and inspect the middle ear. Later, the blade may trim the rim of a perforation or shape a small graft on the back table.

Building a Wullstein group

Some teams like a tray where most micro tools share one name. So they pair this blade with Wullstein suction tubes and micro forceps. Then they add an elevator for the flap and a speculum holder.

Caring for your Wullstein knife

Wash the blade by hand in a shallow basin, apart from heavier instruments. Afterward, rinse it, dry it and check the edge under a lamp. Finally, rack it on its own for the steam cycle.
