Why Choose Reusable Steel

Disposable keratomes are common today. However, some surgeons prefer the balance of a steel handle. A reusable blade also cuts waste. In return, it needs careful edge checks between cases.

Checking the Point and Shoulders

A keratome enters point first, then the shoulders widen the cut. So inspect both under the microscope. A blunt point tears, while a nicked shoulder drags. Retire the blade if you see either flaw.
