Wagener Ear Hook

The Wagener ear hook is a small hook for the ear canal. Clinicians use a Wagener ear hook to get behind foreign bodies or wax and draw them out.

How an ear hook helps

Round or smooth objects in the ear canal slip away from forceps. So a hook passes beyond the object and pulls it outward. The Wagener offers a slim working end for this job.

Clinical use

The clinician views the canal with an otoscope or microscope. Next, the Wagener tip slides past the object. Then a gentle pull brings it toward the opening.

If you replace a worn hook, send us a photo or its figure number. Otherwise, start with one figure and add others as needed. Many clinics keep at least two.

Caring for the Wagener

Rinse the hook after use to remove wax and debris. Then brush it gently and dry it well. Sterilize the Wagener in a holder that protects the fine tip.
