Description
Verbrugge Bone Holding Forceps
The Verbrugge bone holding forceps is a self-centering clamp that holds a plate firmly against bone. It frees both of the surgeon’s hands for drilling and screw placement.
Self-centering jaws
One jaw sits on the far side of the bone while the other presses on the plate. Because the jaws pivot, they settle evenly on round bone. As a result, the plate stays put without rocking.
Sizes listed
We offer an 18 cm model plus versions listed by jaw size: 9.5, 10.5 and 12.0 mm. The jaw size relates to the plate and bone you are holding. Ask us if you need help matching a size to your plate system.
Who uses Verbrugge bone holding forceps
Trauma surgeons use them during plating of the femur, tibia and humerus. They also suit osteotomy fixation. In addition, they hold grafts against bone while screws go in.
Clamping with care
Tighten only as much as needed to hold the plate. Over-tightening can crush thin bone or strip periosteum. Therefore check the bone under the jaws as you clamp.
Freeing the hands
With the plate secured, the surgeon can drill and measure without an assistant holding it. Consequently, fixation steps run more smoothly. This is the main reason the pattern stays popular.
