Description
Ulrich Bone Holding Forceps
Ulrich bone holding forceps grip and align bone during fracture fixation. Three lengths and two jaw shapes give six options.
Six options
Lengths of 23, 25 and 28 cm are available. For every length, the jaws may be straight or curved. Therefore you can match reach and angle to the fracture.
Straight or curved
A straight version holds bone directly ahead. A curved version, by contrast, wraps around bone approached from the side. That helps when the approach is angled.
Who uses Ulrich bone holding forceps
Trauma surgeons use them on long-bone fractures. Also, osteotomy cases benefit from steady holding. They suit pelvic and clavicle work too.
Holding during fixation
Once the fracture is reduced, keep the forceps in place while you drill. Then insert screws and remove the forceps last. This sequence prevents loss of reduction.
Picking a length
Shorter forceps feel nimble on the forearm and clavicle. In contrast, the 28 cm version gives leverage on the femur. Many sets include two lengths.
Ulrich in the trauma set
Because it comes in six versions, the Ulrich adapts to many fracture sites. Consequently, a trauma set can carry two or three and cover most bones. That flexibility appeals to busy units.
Ulrich bone holding forceps options
- 23 cm Ulrich: straight jaw or curved jaw
- 25 cm Ulrich: either jaw shape
- 28 cm Ulrich: either jaw shape

After surgery
Soak the forceps briefly in enzymatic cleaner if blood has dried in the jaws. Then scrub, rinse and air-dry. A drop of oil keeps the hinge smooth.
Why we stand behind the forceps
Every forceps undergoes a personal look by our Atlanta team ahead of shipping. We underwrite the forceps for three years against manufacturing defects by default. Larger units keep one per tray to cover reprocessing time. Searching for a custom quantity? Email our team before you order. For facts on instrument metals, check ASTM F899. Often bought with it is the Lambotte bone holding forceps. Other pieces live in the orthopedic department. Our buyer FAQ handles common order questions.
