Lambotte Bone Holding Forceps
Lambotte bone holding forceps are a classic clamp for reducing and holding fractures. Seven versions cover straight and angled patterns.
A fracture fixation pioneer
The Belgian-born surgeon Albin Lambotte introduced the word osteosynthesis. Furthermore, these forceps are among the best known. Moreover, they grip bone firmly with curved jaws.
Straight versions
Straight forceps come at 20, 25, 30 and 33 cm. Therefore they cover forearm through femur. Longer versions add leverage for large bones.
Angled versions
Angled forceps come at 18, 23 and 25 cm. Meanwhile, the angle lets the jaws reach bone from the side. Besides, that helps in deep or awkward approaches.
Who uses Lambotte bone holding forceps
Trauma surgeons use them in most long-bone fixation. Also, osteotomy and revision cases rely on them. In addition, many trays carry two or three sizes.
Holding the reduction
Close the jaws across the fracture once it is aligned. Then add fixation while the forceps hold. Remove them last.
