Description
Toennis Dissecting and Ligature Forceps
Toennis dissecting forceps are long, slender clamps for deep dissection and ligature work. You can choose the length, the jaw shape and the tip.
21 cm or 26 cm
The 21 cm size suits most deep work. However, the 26 cm size adds reach for the deepest fields.
Straight or curved
Straight jaws suit a direct line. By contrast, curved jaws show the tips as they slip behind tissue.
Serrated or 1:2 teeth
The serrated version holds ties and vessels gently. On the other hand, 1:2 teeth grip firmer tissue.
Choosing a combination
Many teams stock the curved serrated version first, since it covers most dissection. Then they add a toothed pair for tissue that tends to slip. Also, keeping both lengths on a deep set saves swapping instruments mid-case. As a result, the surgeon can match the clamp to the depth of each step.
Reprocessing Toennis dissecting forceps
Wipe the slim jaws gently, because long tips bend if forced. Next, flush and towel-dry. Then lay the forceps flat, unlocked.
