Description
Tissue Flap Punch Forceps, 5 mm Ring
At second-stage surgery, the implant sits under a layer of gum that must come away cleanly. A tissue flap punch in forceps form removes a circle of tissue over the cover screw in one squeeze. The supplier catalogue describes it as an implant exposing forcep used to contour tissue around the implant.
What the 5 mm Ring Does
The working end carries a ring with a 5 mm diameter. When the beaks close, the ring cuts a round opening of that size. So the size matters: it should suit the healing abutment you plan to place. If your abutments are much wider, a different punch may fit the case better.
Forceps Action Instead of a Rotary Punch
Rotary tissue punches need a handpiece and a guide. In contrast, this forceps design works with hand pressure alone. The operator positions the ring over the implant, closes the handles and lifts the tissue plug away. Many clinicians find this quicker when only one implant needs exposing.
Shaping the Soft Tissue Afterward
The catalogue notes that the forcep also helps contour tissue around the implant. After the opening is made, the clinician can trim tags at the margin. Then the healing abutment goes in, and the gingiva starts to form around it. Careful contouring at this stage makes the later restorative steps simpler.
Material, Checks and Coverage
The forceps are made of stainless steel, and each pair passes a review by our US staff before dispatch. They are packed non-sterile, so prepare them with a full cleaning and sterilization cycle ahead of the exposure appointment. Our guarantee runs three years against manufacturing defects on the ring and the joint.
The steel meets ASTM F899 criteria for surgical instruments. Find more exposure tools under Dental Implant Instruments. The Tissue Punch Forceps help lift loose plugs after punching. Our FAQs answer common buying questions.
