Description
Stieglitz Splinter Forceps
These dental Stieglitz forceps are slender splinter forceps,, built for gripping tiny objects in places a cotton plier cannot reach well. Dentists use them to lift small fragments, retrieve points from an access cavity or pick debris from a field. All three versions measure 14 cm, about 5 1/4 inches, and each pair is looked over by our staff in Georgia, so it gets a US inspection before sale.
Reach Is the Whole Point
A small fragment often sits at the bottom of a narrow space. Wide jaws block the view there, and a bulky tip pushes the object deeper. By contrast, these forceps taper to a fine grasping end. As a result, you can see the target, close gently on it and draw it out along the same path.
Straight, 45° Angle or 90° Angle
The Straight version runs in one line from handle to tip. It suits anterior work and any field you approach head on. Next, the 45° Angle bends the tip partway, which helps in premolar areas and when you work around a rubber dam frame. Finally, the 90° Angle turns the tip fully sideways for posterior teeth and distal access. Many offices keep a straight pair and one angled pair, then add the third once they see which reach they miss.
Material and Defect Cover
The forceps are stainless steel to ASTM F899. Whichever angle you pick, it is backed for three years against manufacturing defects. Each pair ships without sterilization, so clean it carefully and process it through your sterilizer first.
Open the ASTM F899 steel reference for grade details. Other tweezers, pliers and exam tools live in Diagnostic, Periodontal & Restorative Instruments, and our dental tweezers make a sensible partner for general pick-up tasks. Ordering help sits in the FAQs.
Intended for licensed and trained dental professionals. Fine tips need gentle reprocessing, described under care and sterilization; parcel timing is on shipping and delivery.
