Description
Stevens
Delicate tissue calls for short, fine blades that cut exactly where you place them. Stevens scissors are a small pattern, and our supplier lists every version at 11.5 cm. We offer four options, built from two patterns and two blade shapes. Inspectors based in the United States test cut each pair and confirm that its tips meet cleanly.
Plain Stevens or Dissecting Stevens
The catalogue lists two separate patterns. The plain Straight and Curved options are the standard Stevens scissors. In contrast, the Dissecting, Straight and Dissecting, Curved options are named as dissecting scissors. The catalogue does not describe their tips in detail, so compare the photos to see how the blades differ. Surgeons who spread and separate tissue often pick the dissecting pair, while others prefer the plain pair for cutting.
Straight Against Curved Blades
Within either pattern, you also choose the blade line. Straight blades give a direct cut along a line you can see, which suits surface work and suture removal. Curved blades, on the other hand, follow tissue planes and contours. Consequently, they help around the arch and under a flap. Many clinicians keep one straight and one curved pair, then add the second pattern only if they need it.
Steel, First Use and Warranty
Every Stevens option is stainless steel and comes non-sterile. Before patient use, open the joint, remove residue between the blades and sterilize them. Also, store them so the fine tips cannot knock against other tools. We stand behind every pair with three years against manufacturing defects, and that applies to all four options alike.
The ASTM F899 standard sets out the steels used for surgical instruments. More fine scissors are found in our Maxillofacial Surgery Instruments category. When you suture before trimming, the Lichtenberg-Ryder needle holder is a fitting partner. Order questions are handled in our FAQs.
For use by trained surgeons and dental clinicians only. Our care and sterilization page explains blade upkeep, and shipping and delivery sets out dispatch times.
