Description
Stammberger Sinuscopy Forceps
Stammberger sinuscopy forceps are cutting forceps for endoscopic sinus surgery. Surgeons use them to trim mucosa and thin bone while they watch through a nasal endoscope.
Cutting rather than tearing
During functional sinus surgery, the goal is to open the sinus drainage paths and spare healthy lining. So a cutting jaw slices tissue instead of pulling it away. That approach helps limit stripping of the mucosa around the opening.
Horizontal or vertical cutting
We list two versions. The horizontal cutting pattern bites side to side, while the vertical cutting pattern bites up and down. Each one suits a different wall of the sinus opening.
Working next to the endoscope
The instrument shares the nostril with the endoscope. Therefore a slim profile matters when you guide the jaws into the ethmoid region. In addition, surgeons often switch between the two cutting planes during a single case.
Which version to order
First, look at the anatomy you trim most often. For instance, a vertical bite may suit an upper or lower edge better. However, many sinus sets carry both, so the surgeon can pick the right plane at each step.
Caring for your Stammberger sinuscopy forceps
Fine cutting jaws trap small tissue fragments. Therefore, flush the jaws and shaft straight after surgery and brush any debris away. Then dry them completely and inspect the cutting edges before sterilization.

How we ship them
Both Stammberger cutting versions include our Stammberger three-year warranty for workmanship faults. Before they go out, a team member in Atlanta examines each pair by hand. You will find more answers on our help and FAQs page. We name ASTM F899 as the standard for steels in surgical instruments. For the septum in the same nose, see the Asch septum forceps. Or explore the wider ENT catalog.
