Description
Somer Uterine Elevating Forceps
Somer uterine forceps grasp and lift the uterus during gynecologic surgery. This elevating pattern measures 23 cm with a 32 mm size.
A shorter elevator
Among our uterine elevators, this 23 cm model has the least length. Because of that, a shallower pelvis or a smaller incision suits it well. Meanwhile, the shorter length keeps your hand close to the field.
The 32 mm size
The 32 mm size matches our Dartigues pattern exactly. However, the Somer design comes in a shorter length. Therefore, pick between them mostly on the reach your cases need.
Uterine traction
Lifting the uterus exposes its supporting ligaments. Then the surgeon can work around it with better access. Also, controlled traction keeps the anatomy in a predictable position.
Stocking elevators
A hysterectomy tray usually carries one elevating forceps near the clamps. However, some surgeons like a spare in a different size for a larger or smaller uterus. Somer uterine forceps pair well with the longer Collin pattern.
Cleaning Somer uterine forceps
Scrub the grasping surfaces after each case, since tissue collects there. Then run the forceps through a washer cycle with the joint open. Dry them fully and place them on an open rack until you assemble the set.
