Description
Dartigues Uterine Elevating Forceps
Dartigues uterine forceps grasp and elevate the uterus during open gynecologic surgery. At about 27 cm, they offer the longest reach of our elevators.
Extra length
The added length helps in a deep pelvis or with a larger patient. Therefore, the surgeon’s hands stay clear of the incision. Also, an assistant can hold the lift from further back.
32 mm size
Its 32 mm size equals the Somer pattern, which runs shorter at 23 cm. By contrast, the Collin pattern lists 40 mm. So choose Dartigues when you want reach with a mid-range size.
During hysterectomy
Elevation opens the space around the uterus for clamping. Then the team works through each pedicle in turn, clamping and tying as it goes. Meanwhile, steady upward tension keeps the structures taut.
Tray planning
A well-planned gynecology set often pairs a short elevator with a long one. For example, pair Dartigues uterine forceps with the Somer pattern. That way, the team can adjust reach without opening another tray.
Care of Dartigues uterine forceps
Clear the jaws of tissue with a soft brush while they are still wet. After washing, look over the joint for any stiffness or residue. Store the forceps dry, away from heavier instruments that might bend them.
