Description
Collin Uterine Elevating Forceps
Collin uterine elevating forceps grasp the uterus and lift it during abdominal hysterectomy. The instrument measures 25 cm with a 40 mm size.
Lifting the uterus
Elevating the uterus brings the ligaments and vessels into view. So the surgeon can clamp and divide them with better access. Also, steady traction helps keep the field organized.
Size and reach
At 25 cm, this forceps reaches into the pelvis through an abdominal incision. Its 40 mm size sits above the 32 mm of our Somer and Dartigues patterns. So compare all three before you order.
Who uses it
Gynecologic surgeons use this pattern during open hysterectomy. Then an assistant often holds it to maintain lift while the surgeon works. However, the surgeon may also control it directly during key steps of the dissection.
Comparing elevating patterns
Our range also includes the Somer and Dartigues designs, both at 32 mm. Instead of choosing by name alone, compare size and length. Collin uterine elevating forceps give the widest listing at 40 mm.
Reprocessing Collin uterine elevating forceps
Open the forceps fully before cleaning so detergent reaches the joint. Next, scrub the jaws with a nylon brush and rinse well under clean running water. Finally, lubricate the joint with a water-soluble instrument milk before sterilizing.
