The Sims-Maier forceps is a long sponge and dressing forceps with ring jaws. It measures 28 cm and comes straight or curved.

Ring jaws

Ring jaws grip a folded sponge across a wide area. So the sponge stays put while you swab. Also, the same jaws can grip a strip of gauze for packing.

Straight or curved

Choose straight jaws for work along the axis of the speculum. Instead, curved jaws angle toward the cervix or vaginal fornix. Therefore, many teams keep one of each on the vaginal surgery tray.

28 cm reach

At 28 cm, it offers the longest reach among our swabbing patterns here. Because of that, it suits deep vaginal and uterine work. Meanwhile, the hand stays far from the field.
