Description
Bozemann-Douglas Polypus And Dressing Forceps
The Bozemann-Douglas forceps is a long dressing and packing forceps for gynecology. At about 25 cm, it reaches into the uterus and vagina to place gauze.
Packing with gauze
Surgeons use this instrument to feed gauze packing into the uterus or vagina. Then they build the pack layer by layer to fill the space. So the jaws release and regrip as each length goes in.
Long reach
About 25 cm of length gives access deep into the uterus. Because of this reach, the hand stays well outside the vagina. Also, the view along the shanks remains clear.
Dressing work
Beyond packing, it handles swabs and dressings. For example, it carries a folded swab to clean the vaginal vault. Meanwhile, it can also remove packing at the end of the case.
Related patterns
The Bozemann-Douglas forceps shares its purpose with the Bozeman uterine dressing pattern. However, the Bozeman line runs from 20 to 26 cm in 1 cm steps. So choose this model for a single long size.
Cleaning Bozemann-Douglas forceps
Loosen gauze threads from the jaws before washing, since lint can trap residue. Next, brush the full length and rinse in clean water. Finally, dry the instrument and lay it flat so the long shanks stay straight.
